A study to assess the knowledge regarding bio-medical waste management among the staff nurses working in selected hospital, Siliguri

Background: Biomedical waste (BMW) management have become a significant concern for health care providers as it carries higher potential infection and injury. Inappropriate knowledge of handling healthcare may serious consequences. There is an urgent need raising awareness BMWM among the hospital staff in all setups. Effective biomedical not only legal necessity but also social responsibility. Objective was to assess nurses regarding find out association between level BMW with selected demographic variables.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted March 2022. Study participants were nursing staff, who are dealing BMW. The data collected by using semi-structured questionnaire.Results: 50% having good knowledge, 20% them had poor knowledge. Significant relationship found be exist bio-medical qualification duration their clinical practices (p<0.05).Conclusions: Staff direct contact so they must made aware risk blood-borne main emphasis given prevent such infections personal protective devices regular training supervision necessary better implementation.
